Funeral services for Milton Toering, 60, president of the Hospers Chamber of Commerce, who died unexpectedly in a hospital Thursday morning of a heart attack, were held Monday afternoon at the Christian Reformed Church of Hospers.

Rev. C. R. Veenstra officiated and burial was in the West Cemetery.

A lifelong resident of the Hospers community, Mr. Toering operated a barbershop and bookstore for years. He was city clerk and elder in the Christian Reformed Church and superintendent of it's Sunday School and was on the boards of Hull Western Parochial school and of Dordt College in Sioux Center.

He was born October 9, 1903, near Hospers and married Grace Gangevoort March 28, 1933, in Hospers.

Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Miss Bertha Toering of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Langenberg of Walthill, Neb., and Miss Nadine Toering living at home, five brothers, Cornelius of Sheldon, Jake of Paramount, Cal., Sam of Watertown, S.D. John of Estelline, S.D., and Henry of Volga, S.D. and six sisters, Mrs. Gradus Vander Broek of Bellflower, Cal., Mrs. Bernard Vander Laan of Artesia, Cal., Miss Greta Toering of Castelwood, S.D., Mrs. Hugo Walkins and Mrs. Glen Taken both of Watertown, S.D. and Mrs. Neal Vander Bosh of Volga, S.D.

His parents and one infant son preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Sam Smit, Al Van Leeuwen, Case Vander Berg, Ike Woudstra, Leonard Van Otterloo and William Roghair.
