Funeral services were held in Rock Rapids on Monday, November 29, for Gerrit Tilstra, who died Wednesday morning, November 24, at his home in Edna, of cancer,at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 16 days.

Services were held at the Vander Woude home in Edna at 1 o'clock and at 1:30 in the First Reformed Church here.

About a year ago, Mr. Tilstra became ill and was taken to Iowa City in April of 1937, where he underwent an operation for brain tumor. On June 29 he returned from Iowa City and for a time seemed to be making satisfactory recovery, but two weeks before his death his condition became alarming.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, Ann Marie, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Tilstra, Mr and Mrs. Andrew Vander Woude, two brothers and their families Conelius Tillstra of this city and William Tilstra of Hynes, California.
