Mrs. Elaine Korver, age 78, of Alton, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 1996 at the Orange City Hospital. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Harlan Van Oort officiated. A committal service was held at 2:30 p.m. at the Spring Valley Cemetery near Moorhead under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Elaine was born March 1, 1917 at Soldier, the daughter of Martin and Gunda (Olsen) Ulven and the adoptive daughter of Shorty Kaatz. She was raised at Soldier where she graduated from the Soldier High School. On Aug. 16, 1937 she married Ivan Outhouse at Woodbine. They lived mostly at Moorhead until 1969 when they moved to Alton. Mr. Outhouse died Feb. 7, 1980 at Orange City.

On March 17,1982 she married James Korver at Milford. They made their home in Alton. She was a member of the American Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Linda Johnson of Missouri Valley; two granddaughters and their husbands, Catherine and Lance Collins and Raquel and Roger Spooner; three great-grandchildren, Danielle Elaine Collins, Matthew Collins, and Wyatt Spooner; two step-daughters and their husbands, Mary Lou and Don Vander Wei of Orange City, and Kay and Bob Myers of Ankeny; a step-son and his wife, Bob and Anne Korver of Venice, Calif.; five step-grandchildren, Steve Vander Wei and his wife Tammy; Rich Vander Wei and his wife Carol; Julie and her husband Matt Wrather; Mike Myers; and Kris Myers; seven step-great grandchildren, Brandi, Farrah, Dustin Stephanie, and Ciera Vander Wei, Sara Tolk (Vander Wei), and Drake Wrather; a special cousin and her husband, Aria and Frank Wilson of Onawa; two sisters- in-law, Letha Miller of Omaha, Neb., and Jackie Ulven of Birmingham, Ala.; and a brother-in-law, Lyle Welch of Dallas Center.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Vincent Outhouse in 1993, and Charles Outhouse in infancy; a sister, Mabel Welch, and a brother, Carl Ulven. Memorials are preferred.
