Sioux County Capital of Dec 11, 1997

Otto Faber, age 62, of Orange City died Sunday, Dec. 7,1997 at the Orange City Hospital after a long illness. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiated. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Otto was born Sept. 11,1935 at Orange City, the son of Peter and Lydia (Huizenga) Faber. He lived in Orange City his entire life. On Aug. 31, 1954 he married Judy Wobbema at Orange City. For many years Otto was a machinist for Hi-Precision in Orange City which later became Smith and Wesson. He later was employed in the parts department at De Jong Oil and Repair, also in Orange City. In 1990 he retired for health reasons. Mr. Faber was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Ron DeGroot of Phoenix, Ariz., Donna and Ken Bloemendaal of Sioux Center, and Deb and Scott Huisman of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Evan and Riley DeGroot; Jamie Bloemendaal and his wife LaRae; Travis Bloemendaal; Alicia and her husband Steve Lourens; and Tasha, Aaron, Rick, Troy and Amanda Huisman; a great-granddaughter, Angela Bloemendaal; two sisters, Emilene "Clem" Kleinwolterink of Sibley and Karen Bergsma; of Orange City; a brother, Freeman Faber of Sioux Center; a stepmother, Lucy Faber of Orange City; a stepsister, Elizabeth Bruxvoort of Jenison, Mich.; and three step brothers, Peter Dean, Rod and Gary Jeltema, all of OrangeCity.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Harlan.
