Hoekstra, Florence (Mrs. Peter M.) 1890-1969

Florence Hoekstra, daughter of George and Uilky De Boer, was born in the Netherlands. She came to the United States at the age of 21 years.

She was united in marriage to Peter M. Hoekstra of Sheldon, Iowa, on December 17, 1918, at Sheldon, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed near Sheldon, Boyden and Hull, Iowa.

They retired and moved into the town of Hull, Iowa, in 1953 where she lived until her death at the St. Luke's hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 2 days.

She is survived by her husband, Peter, of Hull, Iowa; seven sons, George, Donald, Ted, and Henry, all of Hull, Iowa, Martin of Matlock, John of Sheldon and Peter of Kent City, Michigan; four daughters, Eunice, (Mrs. Gerrit Brummel) of Hull, Iowa, Berniece (Mrs. Bert Van Maanen) of Doon, Iowa, Florence (Mrs. Ray Brunsting) of Rock Valley, Iowa and Dorothy (Mrs. Alvin Mulder) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sixty-five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one brother, Siebren De Boer of the Ashton Nursing Home, Ashton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren; four brothers and five sisters.
She was a member of the Protestant Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa.

Services were held Monday, April 28, 1969, at 1:30 p.m. at the Protestant Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa, With Rev. Robert Decker officiating.
Casker bearers were Philip M. Hoekstra, Peter A. Hoekstra, Charles E. Hoekstra, Peter D. Brummel, Peter E. Hoekstra and Rodley D. Brunsting.

Interment was in Hope Cemetery, Hull, Iowa, with the Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center in charge of the arrangements.
