Erna M. Techen, 82, of Hull died Friday, September 11, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Services were at 1:30 P.M. Monday, September 14, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull with the Rev. A. Petersen officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

The former Erna Schulz was born September 27, 1909, at Parkston, South Dakota, the daughter of Simon and Magdalena Schulz. She moved to Hull as a young adult. She married Elmer Techen November 22, 1936, at Parkston. They farmed in the Doon and Hull areas until retiring to George. He died May 24, 1980, at George. She moved to Hull in January 1984 and to the care center May 21, 1992.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Ronald and Betty Techen of Hull; two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Jim Boeve of Beaver Creek, Minnesota, and Nancy and Ken Nielsen of Hull; a brother, Ben Schulz of Bellingham, Washington; two sisters, Louisa Will of Delmont, South Dakota, and Viola Daum of Mitchell, South Dakota; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
