Mr. Arend Wassink died last Saturday as a result of a stroke on Saturday afternoon he was around town as usual and stopped at the home of Hanks Brands on his way home. After he had been there a few minutes he was suddenly stricken. Before medical aid could be summoned he had died.

He was born in the Netherlands on April 29th, 1851. On September 4th, 1878 he was married to Miss Nellie Kuyper, who is now his widow. Mr. and Mrs. Wassink left the Netherlands in 1894, arriving at Sioux Center. After a stay here of one year they moved to the state of Mississippi and from there to Texas. They returned to Sioux Center in 1900 and have their home in this vicinity ever since.

Six children survive: William, Elsie (Mrs. John Broek), and Bertha (Mrs. Albert Kraayenbrink), who all live in this neighborhood and Rev. Albert Wassink of Inwood and Arend, Jr. of Ionia, Michigan.

For many years Mr. Wassink was the correspondent of the Volksvriend, Orange City.
