Dr. Kenneth F. Faber

Dr. Kenneth F. Faber, 69, of George and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital of injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Orange City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George with the Rev. Daniel Jenks and the Rev. Charles Teffl officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hull. Funeral arrangements were made by the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Faber was born Feb. 25,1926, the son of Jacob "Jack" and Maria Elizabeth (Lutjens) Faber. He was raised at Hull, where he graduated from the Hull High School in 1944 after playing on two state tournament basketball teams. He served in the United States Army during World War II in England, France and Germany. After his honorable discharge, he attended Western Union College in Le Mars and later, Iowa State College at Ames, graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1951.

He married Margaret Lee Lockridge on July 22, 1951, at Chariton. He began his veterinary practice in Hull with Dr. H. P. Bolks and later opened his own practice in Rock Valley. While in Rock Valley, he was active in the Boy Scouts. In 1957, they moved to Ogden, where he had purchased a practice. At Ogden, he was active in the Lions Club and Masons and served on the Ogden Community School Board, including a term as president. He was also an active member of the Ogden Community United Methodist Church and participated on numerous boards and in the choir.

In 1973, Faber, with his wife and family, moved to George, where he joined the George Veterinary Clinic. He practiced there until retiring in 1988. While in George, he was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club and was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards, in the men's group, and in the choir.

Mrs. Faber passed away April 24,1991, at George. He married Phyllis Irene (De Roos) MacKenzie Aug. 14, 1992, at Ft. Lauderdale, where he was an associate member of the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the cathedral choir.

Faber was a member of the American and Iowa veterinary medical associations. He was a frequent soloist at weddings, funerals, etc. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; four children, Jeffrey Faber and his wife, Kathy, of Le Mars, Jane and her husband, Mike Motemaden, of Germantown, Md., Katherine and her husband, Andy McDonald, of Altoona, and Tom Faber of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Emily Faber of Le Mars, and David and Lila Motemaden, of Germantown; two brothers, Dr. Wayne Faber and Dr. Donald, Faber, both of Le Mars; nephews, nieces and cousins.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Ana Faber.
