Christina Boogerd, 98, Hull, died Sunday, June 13, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Services were Wednesday, June 16, at the First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Christina Boogerd, daughter of John and Hendrika (Mc’gre) Zoet, was born December 10, 1905, in Elburg, the Netherlands. Her family came to America when she was 4 and settled in Perkins. She was raised in the Hull area. As a young adult she helped many mothers with their babies. She married Walter C. Boogerd on February 13, 1929, in Hull. They farmed north of Hull, where she was a homemaker. They moved into Hull in 1956.

Mr. Boogerd died June 8, 1993, in Hull. She became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull on December 11, 2001.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Hull and the church’s Ladies Aid. She was a charter member of the Hull Christian School Circle and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also participated in the activities of the Hull Senior Citizens and was a volunteer at Pleasant Acres Care Center. She enjoyed knitting and flower gardening.

Survivors include six children, James and Roberta Boogerd of Hull, John and Norma Boogerd of Hull, Agnes and John Scholten of Hull, Janice Boogerd of Hull, Hariet and Vernon Haagsma of Pella, and Wallace and Beverly Boogerd of Orange City; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Moss of Hull; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Zoet of Hull and Kathryn Zoet of Hull; and a brother-in-law, Simon Rodenburgh of Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Boogerd; a son, Harold Boogerd; four sisters, Gertie Zoet, Coba Vander Ploeg, Bertha Attema and Gertrude Rodenburgh; and five brothers, Henry Zoet, Jake Zoet, Johan Zoet, Andrew Zoet and Joe Zoet.

Memorials may be directed to Hull Christian School or the Jim Harrison Mission Fund, in care of First Reformed Church in Hull.
