Mrs. Ella Tillema, 94, of Manitou Beach, Mich., formerly of Orange City and Hospers, passed away Monday, Jan. 5 at the Evangelical Nursing Home in Saline, Michigan.

Mrs. Tillema, daughter of Isaac and Dierkje (Ruisch) Muilenburg, born Aug. 23, 1892 at Harrison, South Dakota spent her youth on the Muilenburg farm north and east of Orange City. On Dec. 19, 1924 she married Chales Tillema at Orange City and they lived on the Tillema homestead near Newkirk for 46 years. During these years Mrs. Tillema was a member of the Hospers Reformed Church, activie in Ladies Aid Society, serving as a past president. She was also active in her community as a 4-H leader and as a member of the Sioux County Women's Farm Bureau Chorus, who sang at the 1939 World's Fair in New York City.

Upon Mr. Tillema's death in 1970, Mrs. Tillema made her home in Orange City for 13 years. The past three years she resided in Michigan with her daughter, Lorrayne C. Mulder.

Survivors besides her daughter include four grandchildren, Charles M. Mulder, Canton, Mich;
Mrs. James T. Birchfield (Martha) Grosse Pointe, Mich.; Mark R. Mulder, Minneapolis, Minn.; and David B. Mulder, Saline, Mich.; and three great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Tillema was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Hubert, William, Edward, Ben, Dick, Harry and Lester Muilenburg, and her sister, Clara (Muilenburg) Pennings.

Services were held at the American Reformed Church in Orange City on Saturday, Jan. 10 with the Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
