Milo Bogaard, 80, of Sheldon died Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at his residence in Sun City, Arizona.

Services were held on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. The Rev. Tim Meendering officiated. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post of Sheldon.

Milo was born July 13, 1921, at Hospers, the son of Arie and Gertrude (De Haan) Bogaard. He lived his youth and attended school in Archer and graduated from Archer High School. He later served with Company I, 133 Regiment, 34 Division of Sheldon during World War II.

On August 14, 1946, he married Hazel Juliet Kreyes of Sheldon. They lived in Sheldon where they owned and operated Bogaard Dry Cleaners for more than 25 years.

Mr. Bogaard was a member of Bethel Reformed Church where he served on the consistory. Hr enjoyed gardening, Bicycling, traveling and restoring old furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a son, Norman Bogaard of Sheldon; three daughters and their husbands, Mary Beth and Jim Brown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bonita and Philip Gille of Payson, Arizona and Ruth and Tim Meendering of Grand Rapids, Michigan; eight grandchildren; four brothers and their wives, Richard and Leona Bogaard of Sibley, Victor and Rae Bogaard and David and Arden Bogaard, all of Santa Cruz, California, and Calvin and Ellen Bogaard of Richmond, Texas; and two sisters and their husbands, Leone and Sidney Vander Woude of Coralville and Norma and Roger Gintert of Santa Cruz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Duimstra.
