Died: July 17, 1992 Sioux Center, Iowa

The Rev. Christian G. Ter Maat, 94, of the Sioux Center Community Hospital Nursing Wing, died Friday July 17, 1992 at the residence after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wed. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. P. Y. DeJong officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center.

Rev. Ter Maat was born May 27, 1898 in Orange City. He attended elementary school in the Sanborn area and graduated from Grundy Center High School. He then taought for five years. He attended Calvin College and Westminister Seminary. He was ordained itinerant missionary for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church from 1938-1947. He married Alma Kallemeyn of Volga, South Dakota in 1947. He served Christian Reformed Churches at Estelline, South Dakota; Allison, Iowa; Vesper, Wis. and Sullivan, Mich. before becoming emeritus in 1960 for health reasons.

Rev. Ter Maat was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Richard and Elsie Ter Maat of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; a daughter and her husband Kathy and Bob Martin of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and four grandchildren, Rochelle, Erik, Anna and Sara Ter Maat.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Dykstra.

Pallbearers will be Roger Vanden Hoek, Doug Kallemeyn, Ken Kramer and Allen Kempers.
