Died: February 3, 1953

Funeral services for Harry Scholten, 72, a lifetime resident of Sioux County, who died Feb.3, 1953 were held Friday afternoon with Rev. Van Deelen, pastor of the Christian Reformed Church of Hull officiating. Services were held at 1 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 at the church. The body was laid to rest in the Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton.

Mr. Scholten was born on a farm a mile east of Alton May 25, 1880. On August 4, 1905, he was united in marriage to Aartje C. Mouw. To this union 12 children were born of which 11 survive. One child and one grandson preceded him in death.

Mr. Scholten is survived by his wife and the following 11 children; Jennie, Mrs. Richard Berkenpas, Sioux Center; Pauline, Mrs. A. G. Bliek, Hudson, S.D.; John, Hull; Cornelia, Mrs. Bert Berkenpas, Downey, Ia; Morris, Portland, Ore; Hendrika, Mrs. William Reyelts and Adrian, Hull; Martha, Mrs. Arthur Zandstra and Arta, Mrs. James Collins, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Arlyna, Mrs. James Vande Griend and Marie of Hull. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Evert, Springfield, S.D.: Jan, Boyden; Lambert, Hull; Elizabeth, Mrs. Rev. J.J. Weersing, Ripon, Calif.; Hattie, Mrs. Menzo Scholten, Munster, Ind. and Johanna, Mrs. Steve Nap, of Kalamazoo, Mich., 27 grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Maurice T. Scholten, Morris L. Scholten, Maurice J. Mouw, Gerrit John Leusink, John J. Scholten and John G. Scholten.
