Died: March 17, 1998 Rock Valley, Iowa

Walter Vande Kamp, 81, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, March 17, at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel with the Rev. Brad Langstraat officiating. Burial was in Carmel Cemetery.

Vande Kamp was born June 2, 1916, in Woodstock, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Nellie (Post) Vande Kamp. He lived in Inwood for seven years and at Hollandale, Minnesota, for 30 years. He married Marie Hooyer January 11, 1957, in Carmel. The couple resided in Rock Valley, where he was employed with Kooima Manufacturing for 26 years before retiring.

He was a member of Carmel Reformed Church, where he was a Sunday School and catechism teacher, and attended the Rock Valley Senior Citizens Club. He was a volunteer at Valley Manor.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John of Rock Valley; a daughter and her husband, Mariette and Duane De Kruyff of Pella; two brothers, Jim of Mason City and the Rev. Gary and his wife Ardie of Sheldon; seven sisters, Ada and her husband Hilbert Mennega of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Lory Harmsen of Sioux Falls, Tracy and her husband Doug Vandegrift of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Sue and her husband Merlin Wallin of Glenville, Minnesota, Eva and her husband Wally Karsjens of Hollandale, Sarah and her husband the Rev. John Ekema of Pella and Vivie and her husband Jim Loverink of Hollandale; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jane; and a sister, Nellie Pauzenga
