Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Hospers, with Rev. A. Hellinga officiating. Burial was in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, for Harold Schoep, 19 years.

Harold Neil Schoep was born July 15, 1935 on a farm near Sioux Center where he lived for seven years. After this his family moved to a farm near Newkirk where they lived for 8 months and then moved to Hospers. Harold was a graduate of the Hospers High School and attended Northwestern Junior College for one semester. Following this he spent 5 months as a bookkeeper in New York.
He took his life Sunday morning after preparing notes for his family and his minister. The boy died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound in the chest.

The only son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Schoep, former Sioux Center farm people. Harold apparently wrote the notes on a typewriter before accompanying his paretns to church Sunday morning. Midway in the church service, he got up and left. When his parents returned home they found him dead in the house and the shotgun nearby.

The boy was reported to have been depressed about his health, and the thought of approaching time for entering Service.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Schoep of Hospers, two sisters; Mildred (Mrs. Howard Van Oort) of Ireton, and Phyllis (Mrs. Lee Heiliger) of Sheldon, his grandmother (Mrs. John Schoep) of Sioux Center and his grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Simon Beernink) of Sioux Center.
