Died: 1984Lester Heusinkveld, 65, of Sioux Center died Tuesday in a hospital in Sioux Center after a long illness.
Services were at 1:30 P.M. Thursday in the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Dr, Thurman Rynbrandt officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
Mr. Heusinkveld was born June 27, 1919, at Sioux City. He married Etta Vneeman September 22, 1939, at Mason City. They farmed in the Akron area from 1946 until 1949; from 1949 until 1955 they farmed in the Sioux Center area and also managed the Sioux Center Livestock Sales Co.; from 1955 until 1971 he was custodian of the First Reformed Church; from 1966 until 1977 they operated the Heusinkveld Book Store in Sioux Center; from 1972 until 1981 he was employed at the Co-op Lumber Yard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Leland “Hap” of Orange City and Virgil of Santa Ana, California; one daughter, Mrs. Sye Henry (Ruth) Roghair of Alton; two brothers, Bernard of Corning, California, and Elmer of Gresham, Oregon, and five grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in his name for the Children’s Department of Sunday School of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
