Died: December 8, 2006 Primghar, IowaLarry D. Wegter, 63, Hartley, formerly of Sibley, died Friday, December 8, at Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar.
Services were Monday, December 11, at Sibley Senior Citizen Center, with Shari Stamps and Tim Vaughn officiating. Burial was at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, under the direction of Walton-Roste Funeral Home in Sibley.
Larry Wegter, son of Charlie and Minnie Terpstra Wegter, was born April 4, 1943 near Matlock. He received his education in Herman, MN. After high school, he married Karen Beyer and they lived and farmed various places until 1993, when they owned and operated a farm near Hartley. He retired from farming in 2006.
He enjoyed carpentry work. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and visiting family and friends. He also was passionate about fishing. He had a knack for fixing and building things. He will best be remembered as a warmhearted person, willing to lend a hand.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karen Wegter of Hartley; a daughter, Kim and Scott Mason of Early; a son, Les and Kelly Ann Wegter of Muscatine; five grandchildren; his stepmother, Annetta Wegter of Dassel, MN; two sisters, Sharlene and Paul Radbourne of Canada, and Ruby and Leonard Ringdahl of Harwood, N.D.; and two brothers, Henry and Barbara Wegter of Fargo, N.D. and Daryle Wegter of Puyallup, WA.
He is preceded in death by a son, Kelly Wegter; and two infant children.
