Died: February 27, 2004 Sioux City, Iowa

Mavis J. Schoenrock, 55 Hawarden, died Friday Feb. 27, at St. Luke's Regioinal Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services were Tuesday, March 2, at First Baptist Church in Hawarden, with Pastor Stuart Schreur officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mavis Schoenrock, daughter of Lawrence and Arlene (Struve) Tewes, was born July 1, 1948, in Hartley. She graduated from Clay Central High School and attended dental assistant school in Minneapolis.

She married Leonard Schoenrock June 20, 1970, in Hawarden. They made their home in Hawarden, where she was employed at Otis Radio for 20 years. She later worked at K-Products and for the past nine years was employed at Wells' Blue Bunny in LeMars.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hawarden, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and in the Martha Circle. She was a Girl Scout leader and loved to embroider, read and enjoyed collectables.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Schoenrock of Hawarden; a daughter, Sandra and Mike Gray of Hudson, S.D.; a granddaughter; two brothers, Lester and Shirley Tewes of Sutherland and Loren Tewes of Sutherland; and three sisters, Maxine and Roy Wohlert of Hartley, Marilyn and Tom Schueder of Peterson, and Marsha and Tony Wolcott of Cherokee.

She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Schoenrock in infancy; an infant sister, Mary Ann Schoenrock and her parents, Lawrence and Arlene Tewes.
