Robert Alexis Van Olst, 80, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, Oct 3, 2009, at St. Anthony's Hospital. Born in Davenport, IA, he came here in 2006 from Ocean Springs, MS. He graduated from the University of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Egbert & Cecilia Van Olst. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucretia A. Van Olst; daughters, Ann (William J.) Wolf and Barbara (Gary) Murze; sons, Robert E. (Francine); Eric (Jessica) and Kris (Ashley); brother, Dr. James Van Olst; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was in the "Missile & Radar Division" of RCA for 40 years. While there he received the "David Sarnoff Outstanding Achievement Award in Engineering" in 1967. He was a Past Commander of the Cooper River Yacht Club in Collingswood, NJ.
