The sad news reached Alton friends this week of the death of Edward Goeders son of John Goeders formerly of Alton vicinity but now of Stayton Oregon.

Edward Goeders was assisting several others working in a gravel pit near a high bank when suddenly the whole embankment gave way. He received serious bruises about the had and face but it was not thought at first that the injuries would prove fatal however complications set in and the young man died in two days. Deceased was born at Alton on February eighth 1879 on his father's farm southeast of town where Henry Berg lives and here grew to manhood. He moved to Oregon four years ago with his parents. He was the only child and the friends of the Goeders family have sympathy with them in their affliction.
