Wessel Wynja, 77, of Ireton died Thursday, November 2, 1995, at the Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden.

A memorial service was at 2pm Saturday, November 4, at First Reformed Church in Ireton with the Rev. Douglas Van Aartsen officiating. Burial was at 1pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Wynja was born January 11, 1918, at Steen, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Dora (Eenkhorn) Wynja. He married Dorothy E. Kruizenga May 9, 1941, at Sioux Center. The couple farmed for two years near Sioux Center and then near Ireton. They retired to Ireton in 1980.

He was a member of First Reformed Church of Ireton, where he served as an elder and deacon.

Survivors include his wife: two sons, Verdean of Orange City and Henry and his wife Carol of Pella; four daughters and their husbands. Ann Dorene and Loren Kleinwolterink of Sioux City, Lynette and Wayne Kruse of Le Mars, Wenda and Dave Horstman of Sioux Center and Laura and Don Lowe of Columbia. Missouri; Two brothers. Chris of Sioux Center
and Jim of Melvin; three sisters, Christina Ruisch of Sanborn and Edna De Groot and Dorothy Uittenbogaard, both of Sheldon; 16 grandchildren: and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe and James; and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Wynja.
