At her home west of Newkirk on Tuesday Mrs. Martin Vande Velde senior died at the age of eighty four from the infirmities of old age.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Hospers from the Presbyterian church of which her husband—who died two years ago—was deacon for many years.

She leaves four children— Andrew of near Hospers, Mrs. Powell from Canada, Mrs. James De Kraay of Orange City and Martin Vande Velde who lives on the old homestead where she died.

(Found Marten and Mettije's marriage record on wiewaswie.nl Marten Klazes Van der Velde born Ferwerd 21 years married 21 May 1846 Ferwerderadeel, Friesland to Mettije De Haas born Jiskum Fr. 22 years of age to Andries Jakobs de Haas and Grietje Everts Radersma. They had one child born at Het Bilt Fr. Neth. Klaas bron 25 Aug 1851, but he apparently died along the line as he was not in the survivors in her obit above. See her husband's obit for more details.)
