Bernard J. Van't Hof, 93, Sioux Center, died Thursday, Feb. 7, in Sioux Center.

Services were Monday Feb. 11, at Carmel Reformed Church near Rock Valley, with the Rev. Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial was at Carmel Cemetery in Carmel, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Bernard Van't Hof, son of Lou and Allie (Schut) Van't Hof, was born March 21, 1908, on a farmstead near Newkirk. He was raised in the Newkirk area, where he attended country school through the eighth grade. He married Henrietta Kleinhesslink on May 1, 1931. They farmed at Newkirk until 1943, when they moved to a farm near Carmel. After farming 47 years, they retired to Sioux Center, where they lived together until July 1999. Mrs. Van't Hof died March 12, 2001. He was a great family man and had a love for horses.

Survivors include his two daughters, Florence and Kenneth Sandbulte of Carmel, Betty and Delmar Sandbulte of Carmel; three sons, Rodney and Karlene Van't Hof of Sioux Center, Roger and Lori Van't Hof of Orange City, and Gene and Becky Van't Hof of Eden Prairie, MN; 32 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Van't Hof; five brothers, Gerrit, William, Henry, Lou, and Albert; two sisters, Arta Hofmeyer and Harriet Wierda; three grandchildren, Adam Van't Hof, Michael Van't Hof and Kerri Bomgaars; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Sandbulte.
