Little Jake Van Roekel aged seven years died last Friday from injuries received from falling off a load of barley and the wheels passing over his back on Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened on the old Vande Steeg farm one mile north of town. The funeral was held Monday from the Chr. Ref. church.

(This was determined to be Johannes Van Roekel born 28 Nov 1898 Sioux Center died 4 August 1905 son of Abraham Van Roekel 1859-1917 and Nennetje Van de Krol 1858-1928. They had a large family. Burial location of Johannes uncertain.)
