Sioux Center News April 23, 1959

Funeral services were held at 1:30pm Monday from Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rock Valley for Theodor L. Winterfeld, 60,lifelong resident and prominent farmer of the Sioux Center vicinity, who passed away Thursday evening at the Sioux Center hospital, after a two-day confinement due to heart attack.

Rev. Henry Prieb officiated and burial was made in the Hawarden cemetery, under the direction of Vander Ploeg's.

Mr. Winterfeld was born June 20, 1898, at Sioux Center on the farm where he resided at the time of his death, and attended the rural schools of Plato township. On June 4, 1924, he was united in marriage to Edna Rehder, and to this union six children were born; Julius and Edwin of Ireton; Merlyn of Sioux Center; Carroll of Hudson, S.D.; Marlene, Mrs. LaRue Wegner, of Ireton, and Duane, at home.

The deceased was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for many years.

Survivors besides the widow and six children are 15 grandchildren, four brothers, Will W. of Rock Valley and Herman, Arno and Fritz W. of Swan Valley, Idaho and one sister, Anna, Mrs. Paul Traughber, of Irwin, Idaho.

His parents, one brother, Delbert, and one sister, Cora, Mrs. Joe Kruse, both of Swan Valley, Idaho, preceded him.
