Sadie Wiersma, 90, Orange City Hospital Long-Term Care Facility.

Services were Thursday, March 27, at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga officiating. Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Sadie Wiersma, daughter of Peter and Mary (Vandenburg) Wiersma, was born Feb. 10, 1913, near Northwestern Junior College in Orange City. She was a teacher and school bus driver for Western Christian High School in Hull in early years. She later taught at Rehoboth Christian School for Navaho Indians in New Mexico. She then was a teacher at Cook Training School in Phoenix. After the death of her father, she moved to Orange City to help care for her mother. She then became a librarian at Northwestern College in Orange City and later was the librarian at Mid-America Seminary in Orange City. She lived at Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City for many years. She transferred to Orange City Long-Term Care Facility in 2001.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. She enjoyed reading, and in later years liked to have others read scripture to her, especially Psalm 27.

Survivors include many cousins, including Marion Wiersma of Sioux Center, who was like a brother.
