Sioux County Capital Sept. 20, 1984

Mrs. Marcella Van Tubergen, 52, of Hospers, died Sunday evening at the Marian Health Center in Sioux City following a brief illness.

Services were held Tuesday Sept. 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church. Rev Larry Meyer officiated. Burial was in Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City,

Mrs. Van Tubergen was born June 4, 1932, at Platte, S.D. the daughter of Cornelius and Anna (Boer) Van Wyk. She married Gerald Van Tubergen May 31, 1957, at Sheldon. Most of her life was spent in the Newkirk-Hospers area, moving to Hospers in 1968.

She was a Christian school teacher for seven years, teaching at Ocheyedan and Sheldon. She was a member of the Hospers Christian Reformed Church, Farm Bureau Choir, Golden Hour and Unity Auxiliary. She attended Calvin College and graduated from the University of South Dakota-Springfield.

Survivors include her husband Gerald, a son, Randy, Hosper; Five daughters, Chris of Dallas, Tex., Peggy of Sioux City, Judy, Lisa, and Valerie all at home.; her mother, Mrs. Anna Van Wyk of Sheldon; two brothers, Cullen of Sheldon; and Gene of LeMars.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius and a sister, Mrs. Floyd (Madelyne) Terpstra.
