Edward Carl Treiber, 72, of Hawarden died Wednesday, April 24, in a nursing home in Alcester, S.D.

Services were at 1:30 p.m.Friday, April 26,in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Dwight Rengstorf officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in Dow Funeral Home.

Mr.Treiber was born April 30, 1912, in Eagle Township, near Ireton. He married Inez Marie Johnson Jan. 1, 1939, rural Sioux Center. They farmed in the Rock Valley area until 1947 and later moved northeast of Alcester. They moved to Hawarden in 1966.

Mr. Treiber was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the board of the Alcester Farmers Union Oil Co. for 20 years and helped organize Green Creek Watershed, northeast of Alcester. He helped organize and served as a director of the Union County Livestock Feeders Association.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Glenda) Stene of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one son, Dennis of Hudson,S.D.; one brother, Walter and one sister, Hilda Jones, both of Hawarden and six grandchildren.
