Anna Zomermaand, 83, of Sioux Center died Saturday, August 4, at the Sioux Center Nursing Facility.

Memorial services were at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Dr. John B. Hulst and the Rev. Robert Zomermaand officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center.

Mrs. Zomermaand was born February 22, 1918, to Peter and Anna (Jansma) Statema in Ireton. She lived her youth and attended country school near Ireton. She married Henry Zomermaand on February 26, 1941, in Ireton. They farmed in rural Maurice until retiring to Sioux Center in 1976. They were janitors at Bethel Christian Reformed Church and the New Homestead. They later moved to the Sioux Center Nursing Facility.

She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church and the Sunshine Circle. Her special interests include embroidery work.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Edwin (Arlys) of Sioux Center, Peter (Laura) of Orange City, Dennis (Elaine) of Maurice, and the Rev. Robert (Janine) of Lafayette, Indiana; one daughter, Shirley (Terry) de Boom of Worthington, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Clarence (Beulah) Statema, Peter (Joan) Statema, Betty (James) Sikma, Geneva (William Burggraff, Priscilla (Otto) Huizenga; and one sister-in-law, Iola Statema.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Arthur and Frank; and one sister, Madelyne Huizenga.
