Died: October 29, 1992John P. Zwagerman was born on June 11, 1921 at Sheldon, Iowa, the son of Dick and Jennie (Roetman) Zwagerman. He grew up in Sheldon area where he attended his schooling.
On June 26, 1942, John was united in marriage to Angeline Den Hartog at Hospers, Iowa. This union was blessed with seven children. They lived in the Sheldon, Iowa area until 1952 when they moved to the Belgrade area where they farmed and John also later worked as a realtor and salesman in the area. He retired in 1988 when they moved to Mesa, Arizona. He was a member of the Chandler Christian Reformed Church at the time of his death but was a former member of the Brooten Christian Reformed Church. Over the years John has served his church, as an elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He loved the Catechism continuing to review what he had learned.
John served on the Belgrade Public School Board for a number of years and was active with the Farm Bureau.
His family remembers the special time they had this summer when John and Angeline celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They also recall his hobbies of fishing and hunting, and his ability to meet people and how easy he found it to talk to them.
On Thursday, October 29, 1992, John died at Mesa, Arizona at the age of 71 years. Surviving are his wife, Angeline of Mesa, Arizona; children and their spouses: Linda and Norman DeKok of Brooten, Minnesota, Karen and James Mee of Tempe, Arizona, Duane and Barbara Zwagerman of Willmar, Minnesota, Debra and Phil Ouwinga of Grand Rapids, Missouri, Daryl Zwagerman of Brooten, Minnesota, Janis and Doug Hoogeveen of Willmar, Minnesota and Lorie Zwagerman of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters and their spouses, Bertha and Cornie Granstea of Sheldon, Iowa and Rosella and Harold Roos of Sibley, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one granddaughter.
