Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for R. Attema who passed away at his home here Tuesday morning. He had been ill for over a year, and had been in the Sioux Valley Hospital the last 7 months of 1943. He was taken home January 1, 1944. Shortly after arriving home, he became ill with the flu and was quite ill. He has since been ailing with poisoning of the blood stream. Saturday afternoon he became very ill and continued in a critical condition until he passed away Tuesday.

Rindert Attema was born at Pijam, Friesland, The Netherlands , on May 2, 1869. He came to this country with a group of friends at the age of 23. He had three children, Mrs. Jerry De Boer of Bellflower, Calif., Gerrit Attema of Artesia, Calif., and Sam of Rock Valley. There are 14 grandchildren. Gerrit could not come for the funeral, but Mrs. De Boer did.

Services were held at the home at 1:30 and in the Christian Reformed Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. Kuyper of that Church. Pallbearers were Dan De Jonge, Gerrit Hoekstra, Klaas Keiser, John Coert, Mr. Rozeboom and Klaas Driessen.

Relatives and friends attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Van Gelder, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar De Vries, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Vries, Mr. and Mrs. Charles De Vries, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Huizenga, all of Orange City, Mrs. F. Pollema and daughter Winnie, Mr. and Mrs. Will Pollema, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Pollema, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pollema, Mr. and Mrs. Siebolt Pollema, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Van Sloten, Mr. and Mrs. George Vink, all of Hull, Mr. and Mrs. Arie Steenhoven of Boyden and Mr. and Mrs. John Brouwer of Rock Valley.
