Mrs. Don (Bonnie) Dowdey, 57, of Hawarden died Thursday, March 21, in a hospital in Hawarden after a brief illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23, in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Lee Christopherson officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 22 in the Dow Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dowdey, the former Bonnie Garthwait, was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Canton, SD, and was a lifelong Hawarden resident. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1944. She married Don Dowdey, Feb. 16, 1947, in Hawarden. They operated Dowdey's Furniture Store in Hawarden the last 38 years. She was a den leader with the Cub Scouts for many years.

Mrs. Dowdey was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, Order of Eastern Star, past president of the Baptist Women's Society and was an active member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Mary) Johnson of Hawarden, one son, Joe of Aurora, Colo., four grandchildren, three brothers and six sisters.
