Alton Democrat May 22, 1931

Mrs. Edward J. Kraai (nee ELizabeth DeVries) passed away last Thursday at the age of 45 years and 10 1/2 months. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob De Vries and was born at Orange City, growing to womanhood here, and on January 3, 1906, was wedded to Mr. Edward Kraai. They moved to the farm, where they prospered and in 1923 moved to town when her husband entered business in Orange City. She was a real "homebody", her family meaning the world to her, but was a faithful member of Trinity Reformed Church.

Parting with the beloved wife and mother, the bereaved husband and children have the deepest sympathy of the community in their dark hour of sorrow. The funeral services were held at Trinity church on Monday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. J. D. Dykstra, pastor of the American Reformed Church.

Besides the husband and three children, Donald, Edna and Gerald, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Dora De Vries of Orange City. One childe, Dorothy, died in infancy. Three brothers, John J. De Vries of Long Beach, Calif. Jake and Charles, both of Orange City, also survive their sister. The former could not come from Califonia on account of ill health.

Many friends came to pay their last repects, among those from away being the following: Mr. and Mrs. W. Klay, Long Beach Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. T. Salie Edgerton, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. W. Dean Ouden, Chandler, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Phil Odens, of Springfield, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. A. Koele, Cornelius Koele of Sheldon and others.
