Died October 14, 1985

Helena Lubbers, 97, of Orange City died Monday, October 14, in a nursing home in Orange City.

Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday October 17, in the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Donald R. Lenderink of Trinity Reformed Church of Orange City officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Lubbers, the former Helena Doeksen, was born June 23, 1888, The Netherlands. She came to the United States and to Hull at the age of 6 months with her parents. She married Albertus Lubbers April 6, 1911, at Hull. They farmed north of Orange City until 1944 when they moved to an acreage south of Orange City. In 1956 they retired to Orange City. He died March 15, 1961, at Orange City. In 1975 she became a resident of Heritage House Nursing Home.

Mrs. Lubbers was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church where she had been active in the women's organizations.

Survivors include three daughters, Genevieve of Des Moines, Ruth Foreman of Brookings, S.D. and Anna Marie Weltge of Nashville, Ill.; three sons, Roy of Connersville, Ind, Willard of Spencer and Gilbert of Spokane Wash.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
