Alyce Miedema, 86, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, March 18, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.

Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Mike Van Hammersweld officiating. Burial will be in Vally View Cemetery.

Mrs. Miedema was born June 23, 1921, in Rock Valley, the daughter of Aart and Hermina (VanGalen) VanHolland. She worked at Foppe's Store until working at Douglas Aircraft Factory in California during World War II. She married Raymond Miedema on May 21, 1946, in Rock Valley. They lived in Rock Valley until moving to California in 1952. In 1969, they moved to Fairview, South Dakota and back to Rock Valley in 1992.

She is survived by her husband, Ray, three sons, Richard (Carol) Miedema of Moreno Valley, California, Robert (Alora) Miedema of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mark (Deborah) Miedema of Keizer, Oregon; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Moss (Evalena) Van Holland of Chino, California; two sisters, Hermina Berghorst of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, and Johanna Van Bochove of Yankton, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Martin, John, and Bert Van Holland; A sister, Winnie De Vries; and her twin sister, Martha Van Holland.
