Helen K. Tronnes, 84, of Sheldon died Sunday, February 20, at the Sioux Center Nursing Home. Funeral services were at Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon on February 23, with the Rev. Marcus Moffit officiating. Burial was at Zoar Presbyterian Cemetery in rural George.

Tronnes was born on June 3, 1909 at George, the daughter of Dick and Helen (Kruger) Klaahsen. She was raised at George. On June 30, 1925, she married Boyd C. Tronnes at Canby, Minnesota. They lived at George for about 10 years and then moved to Sheldon. In earlier years, she was a women's wear salesperson at Ellerbroek Brothers in Sheldon. She later was a clerk at Lady B, also in Sheldon, retiring in about 1986.

She then became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull and in 1989, transferred to Sioux Center Nursing Home. Her husband died in Sioux Center on February 10, 1991.

She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon, where she served as an organist, pianist, Sunday-school teacher and a leader in the women's organizations.

Survivors are her daughter, Marion (Mrs. Lester) Brommer of Sioux Center; a son, Dick, of Davenport; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Byrla File, a grandson and a sister.
