Richard Wierenga, 64, of Rock Valley died Thursday in the Veterans Hospital at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M. Monday in the First Reformed Church at Rock Valley. The Rev. Gordon Bloemendaal officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Wierenga was born October 6, 1920, in Cascade, Michigan. He married Frieda Haan September 8, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was in the floor covering business in Holland, Michigan, until 1979, when they moved to Rock Valley. They were Hope Haven Group Home Parents from 1979 to 1982.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard Paul of Holland, Michigan; three daughters, Christie Vanden Bosch of Zeeland, Michigan, Donna Wierenga of Dubuque, and Mrs. John (LuAnne) Wallenburg of Rock Valley; one brother, Paul of Grand Rapids, Michigan; four sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Doezman, Mrs. Ann DeJong, Mrs. Edward (Grace) Snell, and Mrs. Russ (Martha) Hitts, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and 10 grandchildren.
