H. Deiters, Pioneer Harness Maker, Passes Away

Mr. Herman Deiters, 69, died at his home Monday afternoon following an illness of seven months.

Mr. Deiters was born at Saugatuck, Mich., on December 20, 1871. The past 48 years he had resided in Sioux Center. On August 20, 1897 at Sioux Center he married Gertrude De Weerd and to this union 11 children were born. He followed the trade of harness-maker and was in business here for many years.

He is survived by his widow and children, Mrs. Ben Poll, Mrs. Richard Rozeboom, both of Sioux Center, Larry of St. Paul, Minn., Teunis of Marenette, Wis., Mrs. Ed Fischer of Muskegon, Mich., John of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Richard Juffer and Stevena both of Sioux Center, Mrs. Walter Hughes of Grand Rapids, Mich., Herman Jr. who is at Fort Lewis, Wash., and Harold of Sioux City. He also leaves two brothers John Deiters of Raymond, Mich., Albert Deiters of Fremont, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. Steven Sneiders of Sioux Center, Mrs. Anthony Hoogerhyde of Grand Rapids, Mich., and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2:00 p.m. from the Central Ref. Church. The Reverend Mr. R. Meengs will officiate. Burial will be in the Sioux Center cemetery.
