Irene Kay (leusink) Ouellet, 57, of Monte Sereno, California, died Sunday, April 6, at her home from complications related to MS.

A memorial service will be April 19 at Chapel of the Hills, Los Gatos California. Burial will be in Los Gatos Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ouellet was born December 31, 1950, in Orange City, the oldest of eight children of Gerrit John and Genevieve (Den Herder) Leusink. She was raised on a farm near Sioux Center, graduated from Sioux Center High School and got a nursing degree at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City. She eventually moved to Minneapolis where she met and married her lifelong partner, Ron Ouellet. She continued to work as an RN for many years until her condition would not allow it. She faced each day with determination and courage and would not let the disease take away her quality of life.

Survivors are her husband, Ron; two sons, Jeff and Ryan both at home; her mother, Genevieve Leusink of Sioux Center; four brothers and their spouses, Claire and Ruth of Ripon, California, Arlin and Joyce of Sioux Center, Dennis and Cheri of Rock Valley and Marvin and Laura of Modesto, California; three sisters and their spouses, Helen and Dave Dorenkamp of Milford, Thelma and Dean Madagan of Spirit Lake and Joyce and Kevin Zubrod of Sutherland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerrit John Leusink.
