Mrs. J. Doherty son of Sioux Counties highly respected pioneer residents of this vicinity died at the Hull hospital July 10 where she underwent an operation for some physical malady, with the hope that the operation would be the means of restoration to health of no avail, and she stepped from lifes busy stage and forever disappeared behind the curtain of mortality.

The deceased was born in New York State where she grew to womanhood and at the time of her passing was in the 65th year of her age. She was married 35 years ago to John Doherty and their marital relations were pleasant and shared with him the vicissitudes of an active life. She was a mother of five sons and two daughters who keenly feel the loss they have sustained. Funeral services occurred Wednesday morning at St. Mary's church conducted by the pastor Rev. John O'Rielly in the presence of a large concourse of people. Her bier was covered with flowers attesting the esteem in which she was held by those who knew her. She was interred in the Catholic cemetery, Rock Valley, Iowa. The family have the sympathy of their friends in their home of supreme sorrow.
