Edlen “Bud” Boone, 67, of Hospers died Sunday at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon after a long illness.

Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday in First Reformed Church in Hospers with the Rev. Carl De Jong officiating. Interment will be in the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Mr. Boone was born October 15, 1920 at Sheldon, the son of Anthony Boone and Annie Brink Boone. He attended the Hospers Public School. On February 18, 1942 he married Elizabeth DeHaan at Hospers. They made their home in Hospers where “Bud” worked at the Farmer’s Co-op Oil Station for 19 years. In November of 1984 he retired as station manager.

He was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church and a member of the Church’s Men’s Brotherhood. He served as a councilman at Hospers for 16 years and was a member of the Hospers Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Doris Bajema of Escondido, California; a son and daughter-in-law, Darlo and Jean Boone of Sheldon; three grandsons, Mike, Aaroon and Jason and his mother of Sheldon.

He was preceded in death by his father.
