Everett H. Boone, 82, of Orange City died on Thursday, August 27, at a Sioux City Hospital. Services were at Newkirk Reformed Church in Newkirk on Saturday, with the Rev. Dennis Hietbrink officiating.

Boone was born on April 29, 1916, in rural Sheldon, the son of Henry and Anna (Langstraat) Boone. He was raised in Newkirk.

He married Annetta B. Slothouber on June 10, 1941, in Middleburg. The couple farmed near Newkirk until 1981, when they retired into Orange City.

He was a member of Newkirk Reformed Church, where he attended Sunday School, and Men’s Brotherhood. He enjoyed gardening and bicycling.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Harlan and Shelly of George; four daughters, Janice and her husband, Ed Harskamp, of Sibley, Karen and her husband, Ron Zylstra, of Inwood, Linda Ryan of Spencer and Pamela and her husband, Stanley Bolender, of Moville; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Tena and Roy Vos of Slayton, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a brother, Cornelius.

He was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where he faithfully attended Sunday School and had been involved in the Men’s Brotherhood. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed bicycling.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Harlan and Shelley Boone of George; four daughters, Janice and her husband, Ed Harskamp, of Sibley; Karen and her husband, Ron Zylstra, of Inwood; Linda and Ryan of Spencer; and Pamela and her husband, Stanley Bolender, of Moville; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Tena and Roy Vos, of Slayton, Minnesota.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter and a brother, Cornelius.
