Mr. George Bonnema of Steen, Minnesota, passed away at his home early Friday morning. He suffered a serious heart attack on October 21, and has been in a critical condition since that time. He had just passed his 68th birthday.

He was born on a farm just south of Sioux Center where the Ted Kaemingk family now live. After his marriage to Dena Kleinwolterink, the family lived at Maurice and Orange City for a few years and then farmed southeast of town until 1920 when they moved to the vicinity of Steen.

He is now survived by his widow and four sons, John of Sioux Center, Nelson, Milton and Arnold all of Steen, Minnesota. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and a brother Ben of Orange City and five sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Te Grotenhuis of Orange City, Mrs. Neal Van Muyden of Sioux Center, Mrs. John Kruizenga of Rock Valley, Mrs. Alice Duistermars of Bellflower, California, and Mrs. John Oliver of Sioux Center.

He was preceded in death by two children, a son, Peter, who died at the age of nearly three years and an only daughter, Kathleen, who died in 1940 at the age of 16. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Dick Bonnema, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Katzie, and Mrs. Henry Kleinwolterink.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed Church at Steen on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Kolenbrander officiating. Burial took place at the cemetery there and members of the Consistory served as pall-bearers. Mr. Bonnema had served as a deacon in the church for 21 years. Many relatives and friends from here attended the service.
