Henry A. Van Beek, 81, Sioux Center, died November 28, 2002. Funeral services was December 2, at Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. G. M. de Leeuw officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Henry Van Beek was born September 29, 1921 at Sioux Center, the son of Albert and Gertrude (Van Beek) Van Beek. He was raised on the family farm near Carmel, Iowa where he attended country school. On June 26, 1943 he married Gertrude Van Voorst in Dayton, Ohio. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, participating in the European Theater. He farmed near Corsica, South Dakota, worked as a hired man and as a carpenter. Later in life he drove bus for the Netherlands Reformed School and served as a custodian for the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

He was a lifelong member of the Netherlands Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; daughters, Henrietta Egdorf of Boyden, Alvina Letcher of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Helen DeSmit of Orange City; sons, Alvis Van Beek of Ireton, Roger Van Beek of Westfield, and David and John Van Beek both of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Bleyenberg of Rock Valley; and sister-in-law, Juliana Van Beek and Elizabeth Van Beek both of Sioux Center.

He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Russell Roger Van Beek; daughter-in-law, Sharon Van Beek; son-in-law, Denny Tiedermann; six brothers, Maas, Gerrit, Albert G., John, Albertus, and Peter; and two sisters, Rena Schelling and Henrietta Van Grootheest.
