From Settlers Township, Farmers IA June 25, 1880.
Mr. Harmon - Dear Sir, it is with regret that I chronicle the death of Mrs. S. A. Crandall age 78 years who was on of our most esteemed and worthy citizens. Consumption was supposedly the cause of his death. He was one of the first settlers in the county having come here 11 years ago. The funeral took place today attended by a large concourse.

(His wife was Adah Goodrich 1805-1886. Both are buried in Sioux and Settlers township cemetery. )
