Former Resident Died at Home of Daughter in Sioux City,

Mrs. Mary Eernisse, a former resident of Rock Valley, died Saturday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. L. C. Hirsch, in Sioux City. The Eernisse family were pioneer residents of Rock Valley. They lived west of town near Eernisse's Lake but moved away from here some twenty-five years ago.

Mrs. Eernisse was born in Holland in 1840, and had she lived until February, she would have reached the age of ninety years. She came to this country when she was seven years old. Her husband preceeded her in death several years ago. For the past ten years she had been making her home with her daughter in Sioux City.

Besides Mrs. Hirsch, Mrs. Eernisse is survived by the following children: Mrs. Gertrude Veldbloom of Guernsey, Wyo.; Mrs. Mary Evans, Canada; P. J. Eernisse, Sheldon, Iowa; Matt Eernisse, Bailey, Iowa; John Eernisse, Darvin, Iowa and Abe Eernisse, of Marshalltown, Iowa.

The remains were brought to Rock Valley Wednesday for burial in the Valley View Cemetery.

Poster's note: Matthew Eernisse's obituary gives his wife's maiden name as Mary Alwynse. Some family trees on ancestry.com spell it: Maria Aalwynse.
