Kathryn Vande Pol, 70, of Hawarden, died Monday, May 16, at her residence after a brief illness.

Services were at 10sm Thursday, May 19, at Community Reformed Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Jalmer Eldal officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Born Kathryn Larson October 6, 1917, in Chillicothe, Missouri, she moved to the Ireton area in 1935. She married Wayne Vande Pol January 30, 1944, in LeMars. The couple farmed in the Ireton area until moving to Hawarden in 1952.

She was a member of Community Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Shirley Lael of Pine River, Minnesota, Linda Waterman and Carol Forslund, both of Hawarden, and Joyce Bakker of Rock Valley; four sisters, Mildred Vander Weide, both of Sioux Center, Alice McCausland of Sioux City and Betty Weyer of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a stepsister, Laura Cullens of Noblesville, Indiana; three brothers, John Donovan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, James Donovan of Greely Colorado, and Orville Donovan of Wheatland, Wyoming; and 10 grandchildren.
