Herbert Krieger, 74, former long-time Ireton resident, died May 25,2001 in Pennsylvania. Funeral service and interment were held in Bridgeville, Pa.

Herbert John Kreiger was born May 9,1927, in Worthington, Minn., to Rev. Henry and Hattie (Knopke) Krieger. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, Minn., by his father.

When he was six, they moved to Ireton, where his father has accepted a call. He was confirmed by his father at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ireton. He attended Ireton School graduating in 1945.

After discharge from the Navy he attended Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn., transferring to Springfield Seminary, where he graduated in 1953.

He married Caroline Ehler of Emporium, Pa., in June of 1957. Mrs. Krieger died in 1975.

He served pastorates in Huntington, W. Va.; Cambridge, Md.; Zanesville, Dayton, Mansfield and Akron, Ohio; and Pittsburgh, Pa.

He is survived by his daughters, Katherine Baker of Bridgeville, Pa. and Laura Holcombe of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren; brother, Robert Krieger of The Villages, Fla; two sisters, Elinor Atkinson of Seward, Neb. and Helen Shuck of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Ernestine Lipke, brother Theodore, and sister Lois.
