Former Ireton Resident Dies At Sioux City

Ireton, Ia. — Funeral services were held Saturday in Sioux City for Mrs. Elsie Morris, 69, who died at a Sioux City hospital last Wednesday after a long illness, Burial was at Ireton.

Mrs. Morris was born May 9, 1887, at Ireton and was married to Frank Morris September 7, 1910, at Ireton. She was graduated from Ireton high school and Drake university at Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Morris resided at Ireton until 1925, when they moved to Sioux City.

Mr. Morris died August 15,1948, at Redfield, S. D.

Mrs. Morris was a member of Grace Methodist church and women's organizations of that church, Morningside chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Sioux City Woman's club.

Survivors are her mother, Mrs. E. C. Carpenter of Sioux City and two sisters, Mrs. H. H. Brahand of Round Lake, Minn., and Mrs. Grant Langle of Odebolt, Ia.

Poster's note: Mrs. Morris' tombstone says 1889-1956 and that birth year is confirmed by the 1900 Federal Census (both copies of her obituary refer to her as 69 and the copy quoted above says she was born in 1887). Mrs. Morris was the daughter of Jennie (Ketman) and Edward C. Carpenter (see 1925 census and her mother's obituary).
