From the Thursday, October 31, 1957 Hawarden Independent:

Ben A. Riegel Dies at LeMars

Ben A. Riegel, 57, a resident of the Ireton and Sioux Center vicinities until 1954, died at his home in Le Mars Saturday from a heart condition and asthma.

He was born in Reading township near Ireton August 2, 1900. On June 21, 1924, he married Miss Ethel Stuckenbruck at Primghar and lived near Ireton until 1934 when they moved to the Sioux Center vicinity.

He purchased the Wagon Wheel resort on Rush Lake near Ottertail, Minn., where the family resided the past two summers.

He is survived by the widow, Ethel; one daughter, Judy; two brothers, Oscar of South Dakota and Charles of Washington, and one sister, Mrs. Linda Morgan of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mrs. Cora Walker, Mrs. Nettie Stoll and Mrs. Alma Chenhall.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars, Rev. L. L. Belk officiating. Burial was in the Ireton cemetery.

Poster's note: Ben Riegel was the son of Ernetta (Kukuk) and Benjamin Riegel (source: 1925 Iowa census). I have added him under Reigel as well as Riegel because his surname is commonly misspelled in newspaper articles.
